Madison is an amazing little lady. It was so nice to meet you up at the hosp. Thurs. evening. We will keep her in our prayers as you keep others in yours. Just goes to show the doctors they don't know what God has planned for these precious little ones.

Madison, in more ways than one, you are my greatest hero. I love you more than you could ever possibly imagine! You are SOOOOO cute. You are the smartest little one I know. I think you already have an IQ higher than Manda's and you're only 19 months old. You are the only miracle I'll ever need to witness in this world. Baby girl, no matter what anyone says, you know I'll be there to defend you with every being in my body. And I know I'm not the only one who will do it either. You're gorgeous no matter what others think and you'll live a wonderful life. Don't forget who you are baby girl. Cause you're that one person who can make me smile when I'm already crying. LOVE YOU LOTS!!! Love the whole Howald family lots!!! Megan

Madison Faith ... you are honestly the Howald family's little miracle!! Madison you are living proof of a miracle and strong prayers and reality that prayers do honestly work. Madison was born with hydrocephalus and when our family found that out we had no idea what it was or how it was caused but while you were still in utero we did everything we could to figure out what it was exactly. We prepared ourselves in any way imaginable but never loved you any different. Madison you were born and an automatic bond came over me and our whole family... we knew things would be hard but our strength and prayers would work. The doctors told us that you wouldn't make it through the night but we knew different!! Look at you know.. talking, eating by yourself, almost walking, playing, laughing... all the things doctors said you wouldn't do. Madison without you our Howald family would not be! We love you with everything we have and couldnt imagine life without you. Madison I know that as you get older you will experience many things and people will talk and whisper when they see you but just remember you still are loved by your family and you are beautiful in our eyes. You are our little miracle and we will always love you.

When I was expecting our first child Jordan who is now almost 8 yrs. of age, my mom had an absolute fit because she was very scared that my having a child could be dangerous because of my extensive history with hydro, 30 shunt surgeries tko be exact, but to those with hydro, you can have beautiful children just like my husband William and I have, the doctors just have to take precautions because of your shunt. In my case, the second doctor I had gone to for our youngest child Joshua, said that the 22 hour labor I went through with our first child Jordan, should have never been allowed because it could cause damage to the shunt I have, also going throught the pushing phase of labor, pressure could build in my head and be catastrophic. I of course never got to that phase as a c- section was performed after that never ending 22 hours. The second doctor I went to when I was expecting Joshua, performed a planned c-section, and with both c-sections I had, I was placed under general anestthesia because of the high risk of a shunt infectiion with spinal or epidural blocks for pain. I was also under general anesthesia for our fist child Jordan. For those with hydro considering becoming pregnant, just know that you can have healthy beautiful children, but your pregnancy must be considered high risk, be rest assured that with the God in the midst, that he'll watch over you and your baby just as he did for my husband William, Jordan Joshua and myself.

Kelley, My name is Courtney, and i was born with hydrocephalus. I know what little Madison is going through. I have had several surgeries. I've been through enough. When I was born I only weighed 1lb. 15oz. One of the symptoms of hydrocephalus is an unusually large head when the baby is born.

Hello Kelly, what a wonderful thing you have done here, to share your experience with other families, to share Madison's story and to give strength and hope to others. I am 46 years old, born with hydro diagnosed at 12, there wasn't much information at that time at all only Doctors views, according to them and I had a great Doctor, my life span was not going to be long...they really don't know everything, not only that, I am a mother of three adults hahaha. They also said I shouldn't have children. I guess my message is live life, be strong and to all the parents of little ones with hydro, it's just a part of them, they will be ok...actually better than ok, and the world better be ready for Madison, cause she's gonna have alot to offer.

What can I say about Madison? Well in the biginning when I found out that my mom was pregant with Madison I was very excitted! When I was told that Madison had hydrocephalus I didn't really know what that was. And I was actually kind of scared for my mom, dad, and my brother. I didnt know what to think and her having that I thought that maybe she wouldnt be normal and people wouldnt like her. Well now that she is born I cant think of my life with out her. She is really want keeps me going in my life and I love her so much. Madison has been through a lot and she is the best person ever. When all of the doctors was telling her that wouldnt do anything or she couldnt do anything was heart braking. She can do anything normal that anyother kid can do and God made her special. God was with us through the whole thing and I thank him for keeping her safe through all of the ruff times. Madison is my miracle baby and she is really the best person ever. Madison I love you so much!

What an amazing little girl- so brave and full of strength. What a blessing to know that Madison is in a home that is focused on God's faith and hope vs. discouragement. This story is an inspiration to all of us "hydros"... thanks for sharing it. I am looking forward to meeting you, Madison!
